Ubisoft Might & Magic IP Deal Press Release
Shanghai, China — July 28, 2016 — Today, at China Joy 2016, Ubisoft announced a new partnership with Longtu to create a new IP for the Might & Magic® franchise on mobile platforms. Longtu have acquired the IP rights for the franchise and will be developing and publishing this new installment.
The intention to collaborate with Ubisoft on a Might & Magic game was first announced earlier this year at a Longtu press conference in Beijing on January 5th 2016. But until now the game’s name, Might & Magic Heroes: Dynasty, had not been revealed.
Along with the name, Ubisoft revealed the game’s key art and an exclusive teaser trailer in a special opening ceremony today at China Joy. It was announced that the game will only be available for the Greater China market, releasing on Android and iOS platforms.
The Might & Magic franchise is a series of role-playing video games, with a long and extensive history. First created in 1986, the series has enjoyed great success, and was revived by Ubisoft in 2003 when the company purchased the rights to the franchise. Ubisoft has since released multiple new installments, of varying genres, taking the series further than ever before.
“We are privileged and excited to partner with Ubisoft, and this collaboration will no doubt prove mutually beneficial for both the franchise and the two companies involved. We look forward to seeing the franchise further develop in China and are confident that it will be one of the best Might & Magic installments yet.” said X, CEO, Longtu.
